Writing an adventure story

Image
Adventure Story Starter: It was a sunny Saturday morning when Mia and her best friend Tom decided to explore the old forest near their town. They had heard many stories about the forest, but their curiosity pushed them to see it for themselves.  While they were walking deeper into the trees, they found a small path that led to a sparkling stream. They looked at each other with excitement and said, “Let’s see what’s at the stream!” Suddenly, they heard a strange rustling sound coming from behind the bushes. “What was that?” whispered Tom, feeling a little scared. Mia took a deep breath and replied, “I think we should sneak closer. It might be something interesting!”  As they were creeping forward, they spotted a small creature with bright blue feathers. Just then, the creature flew into the air, and they noticed a mysterious box lying nearby.  “What do you think is inside?” Mia asked, her eyes wide with wonder. Before they could decide whether to investigate the box, they ...

Anecdotes

Writing an Anecdote; Sharing a Personal Story The following stories illustrate how the simple past and the past continuous tenses are used when writing a personal story. Study them and write your own anecdotes  Story 1 Last summer, I had an amazing adventure. One day, I was hiking in the mountains with my friends. The sun was shining, and we were enjoying the beautiful view. While we were walking along the trail, we heard a strange sound coming from the bushes. We stopped to listen. Suddenly, a rabbit jumped out! It was small and very cute. We all laughed and took pictures because we were so surprised. While we were watching the rabbit, a couple of hikers passed by. They were looking at us and smiling because it was a funny moment. After a while, the rabbit ran away into the woods. We continued our hike, and the trail started to get steeper. Everyone was talking about how exciting it was to see the rabbit, and we felt happy. While we were climbing higher, we decided to take a break...

My Neighbourhood

Image
Reading My Neighbourhood My neighbourhood is a really lively place. There are small shops on every corner, and everyone seems to know each other. There’s a park right in the center where kids play soccer and adults have picnics. Across from the park is a library where my friends and I often do our homework. On weekends, the local market sets up, where you can find fresh fruits, vegetables, and handmade crafts. It’s fun to walk through and see all the different things. My favourite part of the neighbourhood is the old pizza place at the end of my street. The owner, Mr. Rossi, has been there for years and always makes the best pizza.  Overall, I love living here because it feels like a close-knit community where everyone looks out for each other. Writing Exercise: Imagine you are describing your own neighbourhood. Write a paragraph about it including the following points: 1. What kinds of places are in your neighbourhood (e.g., parks, shops, restaurants)? 2. How do people interact w...

How to Describe a Photo in English Describing a photo in English involves detailing what you see in an organized and coherent way. This can help convey the mood, setting, and elements within the photo to someone who cannot see it. Let's break down the process of describing a photo using an example. Example Photo Description ( In easy English ) The photo shows a calm beach. In the front, there are bright blue sandals on the dark sand. The sand looks dark, maybe from volcanoes or minerals, and it goes all the way to the ocean. Soft waves hit the shore, with the sea stretching to the horizon under a clear sky. On the right, there are rocks along the shore, and a few people are enjoying the water far away. The scene feels peaceful and welcoming, showing a nice day at the beach. ( More advanced ) The photo depicts a serene beach scene. In the foreground, a pair of bright blue sandals is placed on the sandy shore. The sand appears dark, possibly volcanic or richly mineralized, and it str...
