How to Book a Hotel Room

Basic expressions and phrases used during a hotel reservation call

Dialogue 1


Guest: Good morning! I would like to make a reservation, please.

Receptionist: Good morning! Sure, I can help you with that. When would you like to check in?

Guest: I would like to check in on March 5th.

Receptionist: And how many nights will you be staying?

Guest: I will stay for three nights.

Receptionist: Great! How many people will be staying in the room?

Guest: It will be for two people.

Receptionist: Perfect. What type of room would you like? We have single, double, and suite options.

Guest: A double room, please.

Receptionist: Alright. Would you like a room with a city view or a garden view?

Guest: A city view, please.

Receptionist: Noted. Can I have your name, please?

Guest: My name is John Smith.

Receptionist: Thank you, Mr. Smith. Can I have your contact number, please?

Guest: Yes, it’s (103) 452-6789.

Receptionist: Thank you! Your reservation is confirmed for a double room with a city view from March 5th to March 8th. 

Guest: Thank you very much!

Receptionist: You’re welcome! If you have any questions or need anything else, feel free to call us. Have a great day!

Guest: Hello! I’d like to book a room, please.

Receptionist: Hi! I’d be happy to assist you. When do you need the room?

Guest: I need it for April 10th.

Receptionist: How many nights will you be staying?

Guest: I’ll be there for four nights.

Receptionist: Great! Is there a specific type of room you prefer?

Guest: I’d like a room with a king-size bed, please.

Receptionist: We have a king room available. Do you need any special amenities, such as a mini-fridge or a microwave?

Guest: Yes, a mini-fridge would be great.

Receptionist: Perfect! How many adults will be in the room?

Guest: There will be just one adult.

Receptionist: Thank you. May I have your name to complete the reservation?

Guest: Sure! It’s Sarah Johnson.

Receptionist: Thank you, Ms. Johnson. Can I get your email address for confirmation?

Receptionist: Thank you! Your reservation is confirmed for a king room with a mini-fridge from April 10th to April 14th. 

Guest: That sounds good. What time is check-in?

Receptionist: Check-in starts at 3 PM, but you can arrive earlier, and we can store your luggage if your room isn’t ready.
